Joy Anson

Derby, England

From a very early age Joy was involved in art, drawing constantly. In the 1970's she attended the Peter Aspell School of Art in Vancouver.

Joy Anson is a primitive or naïve artist. Her work is unique in that she has an unfailing sense of the abstract with a strong, almost cubist, sense of form. Her palette has a wide range, from subtle black-grays and beautiful white, to strong, passionate brilliance of hue.

Technically gifted, she gives her painting a beautiful transparency with a strong feeling for pigment. Her paintings are both charming and nostalgic, yet maintain a contemporary feeling.
